Applying for educational leave

Educational leave stands for taking a break from everyday life, space for new thinking and experiences, background information, exchange with others, ideas and having fun learning.

What’s educational leave?

Educational leave serves political or vocational education or qualification for voluntary work. Important to know: The seminar’s subject needn’t connect necessarily with your professional activities. Furthermore: Days of educational leave are granted additionally to your annual holiday.

Your entitlement to educational leave

According to the Hamburg Law on Educational Leave, all employees are entitled to educational leave. If you are working in Hamburg and are with the same employer for more than half a year, you are entitled to five days per year or ten days in two years respectively. All our educational leave seminars at home and abroad are approved by the Hamburg Law on Educational Leave. For participants working outside Hamburg, we gladly are applying for educational leave on your behalf. Due to approval deadlines in other regions, you are to register at least 14 weeks prior to the seminar’s beginning and to inform us about your wish to get educational leave in another region. How to secure a place in the seminar of your choice:

  • Choose an event
  • Settle on a date for your leave with your employer
  • Fill in the registration form and send it to us
  • Subsequently, you will receive confirmation of your registration and can apply formally for educational leave at your company.
